Precautions of Bearings
Bearings are high-precision machine parts and hence they need to be handled accordingly. Using the highest quality bearings does not mean that they will give excellent performance throughout their usage journey unless they are taken well.
Main precautions to take care of Bearings:
- Keeping the bearings and surrounding areas clean – Dirt and dust seriously affect the working of bearings. Hence, even if the dust is not visible to the naked eyes, care should be taken to keep its surrounding areas neat and clean.
- Careful handling of the bearings – Bearings failure is a very common phenomenon. There are varied reasons possible for its failure. Sometimes heavy shocks during handling result in scratches that eventually may cause in permanent damage to the bearings.
- Make use of proper tools – It is highly important to make use of proper tools while handling the bearings. By this, it means using tools very specific for bearings and not using general-purpose tools.
- Preventing corrosion of bearings – The best way to avoid corrosion is to always wear gloves while handling the bearings. It is highly important to monitor the rust on bearings caused by corrosive gasses.
